I'm a homeschooling mother of five. Four graduates and one to go. I have been married to my dear husband for 31 years this October. WoW! I love talking about home schooling, essential oils, growing your own garden and other things related to health. I'm a city girl living in the country. I love both lives.

Day 115 –Exploring the Unknown- July 21, 2006

Today I went on exchanges for the first time in a long time. The last half of the last transfer with Elder Davis wasn’t a good time to do exchanges. So this is the first one I’d been on in a month. Elder Oram came with me, and Elder Pierce (my companion) went to Reston with Elder Phelps (Elder Oram’s companion).

(Here Elder Pierce inserts a picture of Elder Oram and himself as explorers, like Magellan on a ship.)

On our exchange today, Elder Oram and I went exploring the unknown. The Herndon area is divided into 5 parts; blue, green, orange, pink and yellow. I’ve been in Herndon for 3 months now, and before today I’d hardly ever been up to the yellow area. So that’s where Elder Oram and I went today. “…, to boldly go where no missionary has gone before.”
We tracted in the yellow area all afternoon. I haven’t been tracting as much as I thought I would be on my mission so far. On {Day 84} I mentioned how many hours I’d tracted. I got in 3 more hours of tracting this afternoon, bringing my total up to 39 hours. I might have some hours of tracting that I fail to mention in my journal, but I’ll try to keep it updated as often as I can remember.
Later today Elder Oram and I stopped by S’s place to see how she was doing. She was a mess. She was exhausted, but she was happy to see us. She said that tonight wasn’t a good night to come over to teach. S had just gotten back from her job.
I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before in my journal, but S works at a horse ranch. She is so busy there. She feeds the horses and trains them to follow the paths and trails. She was too tired for us to teach her tonight, so we just visited for a little bit.
We invited S to come to church on Sunday. She said that she wasn’t sure if she would be able to because her husband still has a problem with it. No need to worry about it. I don’t want to rush things.
We also talked with her about going to the temple visitor’s center next week on Saturday. S is really excited about going again. We’re going to try to see a movie while we’re there. The Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd. I haven’t sent it before, so that’ll be a real treat for me as well as S.
So that’s good. S’s situation is improving. We still haven’t taught her the Atonement yet* (*Which reminds me. I haven’t written my talk on the Atonement yet, and zone conference is Tuesday. Yipe!) She hasn’t been to church, but hey, she wants us to come by and teach her on Tuesday or Thursday (those are her days off). Plus, we’ve got the temple trip scheduled for Saturday. So yeah, things are looking good for S. (As long as she stays away from that anti-.)
Surprise, surprise!!! Today we were also able to see C!!! It is hard to get a hold of her; she’s so busy, but she was there tonight. C wants to come to church on Sunday. She took time off of her job so she can go. We’ve got a ride all ready for her. I know she’ll have a great time. I can’t wait to see C at church! Well, I’m tired now. Good night.
