I'm a homeschooling mother of five. Four graduates and one to go. I have been married to my dear husband for 31 years this October. WoW! I love talking about home schooling, essential oils, growing your own garden and other things related to health. I'm a city girl living in the country. I love both lives.

Day 109 – Ugh! The Trinity. Again.-July 15, 2006

When we got home that night, we had a message on our machine from S. I called her back. She said, “Elder Pierce One, -I call you Elder Pierce One because I’ve known you the longest- Elder Pierce One, I want to do a role reversal with you. I have some scriptures that I have found. You’d be so proud of me. I spent an hour and a half tonight studying those scriptures that you gave me. I also found these scriptures and would like you to read them, pray about them and tell me what you think.”

Eager to accept this challenge, I wrote down the scriptures she gave me. They were: Isaiah 43:10; Isaiah 44:6,8; Isaiah 45:5,14,21,22; Isaiah 46: 5, 9; and Colossians 2:13-15. I read them. I did not understand how the verse in Colossians related to the others. Maybe it was not supposed to. It talks about how our sins are forgiven through Jesus’ cross. I guess she is trying to tie that in to the Garden of Gethsemane and why would Jesus have to suffer there, too. The rest of the scriptures from Isaiah have to do with there being only one God and the fact that there would never be another one.

What I need to explain to S is that these verses talk about the God of this world. Isaiah 43:11-“I even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no Savior.” I agree with that. Besides Jesus Christ, (speaking here as Jehovah) there is no other Savior. Mosiah 3:7- “And, moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ the Lord, Omnipotent.”

Breaking the Trinity, that’s what it comes down to. When you realize that Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father are two separate beings, then those verses in Isaiah make sense. The fact is that Jesus Christ, the Lord and Redeemer of this world, while on earth could pray to a higher being, even our Father in Heaven. Jesus is a God, but so is His Father and our Heavenly Father as well. That’s the plan.

One last thing I forgot to mention yesterday. We talked with C and her mom for the first time in over six weeks. It had been a while, but for C, it was like we had just seen her yesterday. Elder Davis and I had stopped by her house several times, but she was always at work.

Today when Elder Pierce and I stopped by, she was there. She opened the door and said, “Hello, church friends! Come in! Come in!” C told us how she wanted to come to church with us and had talked to her boss about getting time off to go. She said that she could not go this Sunday, but wants to come next Sunday. We had to tell C that we could not meet with her right now because there was not another male in the house. (mission rules) We did set up a time to meet at her house next Thursday for a lesson. We’ll see about getting an exchange to go with us. I’d like to get Brother B to go with us. My goal would be to have C and her mother meet at the B’s home once a week for a lesson. The problem is that Brother B is out of town on vacation with his family and won’t be back all next week. Hmmm…

What might work is if we meet at the H’s house. They live right next door and their son served his mission in Taiwan. He speaks Mandarin and C’s mom needs someone who can speak Mandarin. That could work. We’ll see how things turn out.
Wow! Busy day. Tomorrow is Sunday. I’m tired now. I’m gonna head to bed.
