Day 119-Zone Conference- July 25, 2006

We made it to Zone Conference right on time. Elder Chacon and Elder Gleave gave us a ride. The bruise on my face gathered a lot of unwanted attention. Several people asked me, “Hey, Elder Pierce…Were you reaching for a mulberry?” (groan) I told them, “Well at least with this bruise on my face you will be able to tell the Elder Pierces apart. I have a round, red scab on my cheek. Not a mulberry, but a raspberry. I joked that all I need is a matching bruise on my other cheek and I will look like Raggedy Andy.

President W talked to us today. “Today, Elders and Sisters, I am going to talk to you about “anti” and how to deal with it. Who here has had anti presented to them or has had an investigator who has received Anti-Mormon literature from someone?”
(All hands went up including my own). He then asked us what we could do about it. “Bear sincere testimony.” “Get them to commit to read the Book of Mormon.” President W said that these were all great answers. He said not to think that we have to prove something to someone. It all comes down to what they believe. You could not prove that the Book of Mormon is the word of God to someone who is not willing to read it and pray about it anymore than you could prove that Jesus is the Christ to an atheist who refuses to believe.

President W turned on a projector. “If you’ll look at the screen…” but when he turned it on, nothing happened. “Help,” he said. A couple of missionaries came running up and after a few minutes, fixed the problem.

President W said, “It’s working now.” He continued with his talk. “One falsehood that is being spread by “anti” is that Mormon’s worship another Jesus, not Jesus Christ??? We do worship the Jesus Christ of the Old and New Testament, as well as the Book of Mormon, and modern-day revelation.”
